New Set-up

Hi All, from a shattered Mickey,

This weekend saw the flying-of-the-nest of my step-son Tom. The result being that his room was free'd-up for my wife to occupy for her very own office and I was left with an office/studio for myself. This, plus the fact that we have a house inspection(we rent) this Wednesday meant that today I had to work on getting my office/studio in order. All being well I'll be back to painting tomorrow. In the meantime I wanted to share my new layout.

Below are six pics taken counter-clockwise around the room, see the descriptions below for more detail and as always, you can click on the pics for a larger view.

Starting from the right, I have a very important piece of equipment, my ergonomic office chair. Due to the very nature of my work, I spent a lot of time sitting still and a good chair can help elevate many of the posture issues that we are prone to. Just behind the chair(under the lamp) is my grinder; I use this for cleaning up metal bases en masse. This corner of the room will be used for mini preparation. I had been making some tokens for Infinity, hence the rather fetching pink punch next to the cutting mat.

To the left of the prep-zone is the painting-zone! here I do all my brush-work - you can see the LoA infantry on the paint-tray waiting for their next coat and behind them(hidden inside the boxes) are more commissions. You can also see a few of my reference books sitting under the self.

Further along the table I have my iMac and PC(they both have their strengths). This is were I edit pics/movies, organise commissions, listen to music/boos and watch movies.

This used to be my airbrush area, Im now using it to home my printer(router/phone/electronic storage) and photo booth. As I'm taking pics every night, its great to have a dedicated/set-up place to take pics. To the right of the pic you can see my trusty lamp; this has a daylight bulb and is great to paint under.

Here starts the area I've reclaimed from my wife ;) This corner desk is now my airbrushing area. The spray booth fits great into the back of the desk, leaving plenty of space in front to organise minis. Theres also loads of storage space around the desk for the various detritus we all use in this hobby.

The rather jazzy 'Billy bookcase' holds most of my paint ranges and remaining reference books. To the left of Billy is a couple of storage units which, at the moment are a bit of a dumping ground for various items. The Ultrasonic cleaner on the top left has a new permanent home here.

Last up a new area I'm very excited about, my gaming zone! Yes I now have space to set up a gaming table(the black square against the wall). The folding table(kindly donated by my Wife's work) currently covered in my recently built 'Shark Mounted Laser' Infinity terrain and the new N3 rulebook. *Note to local Infinity players, get in touch if you would like a game, I'm more than happy to host.

Anyhow, I hope that was an insightful, useful and revealing look into my environment.
