Battlefield Terrain - Battle of Kârna

Hi All,

Today I finished work on my Battle of Kârna battlefield terrain. This is a two foot square table with terrain designed for the scenario (of the same name), from the LoTRSBG Harad book. A pic of the original terrain from this book is shown first below, followed by my 'interpretation'.

Buildings were made primarily from insulation foam board (my newest favourite material), mounting board & wooden coffee stirrers. I really enjoyed putting this together & look forward to gaming on it.

I've also had another batch of plastic minis of eBay, which means I have almost all the recommended minis for this scenario (minus a few metal minis).

So I have a lot of painting ahead of me, but I may have a few games with unpainted minis :o very soon.

Aragorn 28mm - LotRSBG

Hi All,

Having worked over the weekend & been really busy recently, I felt I needed some 'me-time' today. I spent this time working on this 28mm Aragorn mini from The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game (LotRSBG). This has to be one of my favourite games from Games Workshop (now under 'The Hobbit SBG' title) & if rumours are correct, GW's licence agreement with the film studio runs out soon, which frees them to create whatever minis/games they want from the Tolkien universe (Exciting times)!

Anyways, back to the mini. I based the colour scheme on the original movie character, another thing I like a lot about this game is its literally full of character(s). I used the masterclass painting guide from an old White Dwarf magazine for a little inspiration & then utilised my own paints/colours. By using mainly Vallejo Model Color paints I maintained a very real/matt feel to the mini, which I like. It was nice for once to freely work on a mini without a specific painting guide or outside influence (as I often get when working on commissions).

I got this in a reasonably sized lot of minis off eBay at an even more reasonable price. This included a dozen or so metal minis, a large group of plastics including Orcs, High Elves, Haradrim & a Mumakil (which was the big draw to this lot), So expect to see more LotR's minis soon.
